Two Things the Salary Figure Does Not Cover
The going rate can beat the floor. GBP 26,200 a year or £10.75 an hour is the minimum, whichever is higher — but each occupation also has a published "going rate", and where that is higher again it is the one that applies. Both the rates and the list of eligible occupations are revised regularly, so a role that qualifies today may not next year.
The health surcharge is the larger bill. £624 per person per year is charged on top of the visa fee. On a five-year visa for a family of four that is GBP 12,480 — nearly three times the visa fees themselves. The term sheet below gives it its own row for that reason.

The Visa Fee Is the Small Part.

The household must be able to show GBP 1,270 for the principal applicant, plus £285 for a spouse, £315 for a first child and £200 for each child after that. This is money you evidence in an account, not money anyone takes. It is deliberately outside the total below.

English is required at Level B1 (IELTS 4.0), and the applicant must be at least 18 with a clean criminal record.
